Reading Group: The Magic Circle #5

This session’s focus text is Eyal Weizman’s 2016 essay Before and After Images: Eyal Weizman’s The Image Complex, exploring use of satellite imaging in conflict zones, photography as evidence, privacy, resolution, and testimony.

Two peripheral materials are also included in this session: a page from Exploring Space with a Camera, published by NASA in 1968, and a 1-minute video of the first footage of Earth from space by a V2 rocket at White Sands, 1946.

All participants are invited to bring an image or object responding to the materials, which will act as a further point for discussion.
